Seen on the streets of São Paulo: Pro-caffeine graffiti

I saw this on the wall of my new favourite coffee hang out the wonderful Coffee Lab in Vila Madalena.

A great place for purists. If you ask them for Decaf they actually won't serve you! :)

Hello! Came across your blog on expat-blog.com, I am checking out SP as I am moving there in October. I am hoping to move to Vila Madalena and can see your favorite coffee shop is there... so must be good there eh? :)

It's time for Brazil to grow up when it comes to coffee. Many people in the United States drink de-caffeinated coffee out of medical necessity. I am a person with Hypoglycemia, and I have tio avoid regulat coffee and drink decaf. There are many undiagnosed people in the US and many thousands more in Brazil.
How Elitist and ignorant for coffeshops to be so stupid!!!I've been to Brazil many times and even when decaf is written on the menu, you are told that they they don't have any. What they need in Sap Paulo is a good old fashioned fat Law Suit to take care of this. Sue one of these restaurants that deceive people and put it on the menu and don't even carry it. Then you will see Decaf everywhere!

Ok, putting Decaf on the menu for the sake of it is stupid, but come on, those "big fat lawsuits" you're talking about are screwed up. People sue for having to think on their own!!

Anyhow, Discovering São Paulo, I didn't move to the Vila but to Pinheiros, which is still walking distance! I will check this place out one day for sure. I love a good brew (with plenty of caffein)!!

It is my first time in Brazil and was looking for places to go. I found your blog and tried Coffee Lab as a result. Thanks! It was a great experience. They also recommended a local restaurant nearby "KA" which was also great.

Note to the person above, there is no decaf on the menu.

Hi Andrew, Hope you enjoyed your time in Brazil and I'm glad the blog post was of use to you! I think the restaurant you went to is AK Vila. It's a very good choice!
